Choice People are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Financial Analyst.
Role Purpose: The purpose of this role is to support the Finance Department in providing effective business partnering with key stakeholders across the sites. This includes the preparation of key reports and financial reconciliations to support the department in preparing and analysing financial business data, as part of the financial controls and corporate governance process. The role holder will primarily be responsible for weekly and monthly reporting including, but not exclusively; sales, overheads, transport, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
Relationship Development
Develop and maintain strong relationships with all key functions including Production, Technical,
Planning, Purchasing, Logistics, Sales and Quality.
Liaise with other site finance teams to ensure best practice is shared and adopted across the business.
Build positive relationships with the key finance contacts across the business in both the UK and US, to ensure a collaborative approach to developing any future standardised financial reporting systems.
Financial Process
Prepare and distribute weekly sales reporting including variance analysis and commentary.
Prepare and assist with key monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including validation of intercompany balances.
Assist and support with recording and reconciliation of fixed assets register including liaising with project leads to coordinate the timeliness of capital expenditure recordings.
Analyse Site overheads including labour costs and hours, energy, and other key overheads and coordinate any spend variances with the budget holders.
Prepare month-end journal files for approval by the Financial Reporting Accountant
Assist in the preparation of a weekly KPI report as required including coordinating with all contributors to the report to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the report.
Financial Operational Effectiveness
Work closely with the Financial Reporting Accountant in relation to the financial impact of all commercial and operational matters to ensure the maximisation of business performance.
Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement throughout the finance department and the business, identifying and support the implementation of best practise initiatives.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy for all tasks designed.
Work closely with the Financial Reporting Accountant on driving robust accounting practices and financial controls to maintain integrity of the financial statements and reporting requirements of the company.
Provide and support key trending and financial data to support the budget and forecast planning process; energy, production costs, product costs.
Team
Support the finance team in the implementation of new initiatives, driving a best practice approach at all times.
Supporting an environment for the Finance Team to contribute to the success of the site.
Actively working with other departments to develop a strong financial awareness across the business.
Responsible care
Support a positive Health and Safety culture within the department where H&S is given equal priority with all other activities.
Maintain focus on workplace safety, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with site Standard Operating Procedures.
Promote the culture of “Stop, Think, Act” within the department. Observe, act on and immediately report any issues that may pose a threat to a safe working environment.
Support Finance team engagement in safety forums and initiatives on site.
Required Qualifications:
Third Level Qualification in a Business related subject.
Part Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
Demonstrate strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
SAP experience preferred.
Experience:
Demonstrate experience of working in a financial accounting environment including weekly/monthly reporting (2 years minimum)
Specialist Knowledge:
Demonstrate an ability to analyse and communication financial information to non-financial managers.
Ability to perform reconciliation tasks with minimal supervision.
Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Able to demonstrate attention to detail and ability to use own initiative.
Strong organisation and planning skills with ability to prioritise effectively.
