Choice People are currently recruiting for The Head of Technical and Compliance for a Food Production company in Northern Ireland. This is a vital role and as part of the senior team you will be responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing sites produce safe, legal, sustainable, authentic and high-quality foods to specification whilst maintaining standards in budget control, H&S and customer satisfaction.

This role has a strong team including Quality Managers, Hygiene and Facilities Manager, Technical Services Manager, Health and Safety Manager and Sustainability Manager

Duties of this role include:

  • Putting Staff Welfare and Food Safety first in all decisions.
  • Retailer and BRCGS Audit Management
  • Maintain a high standard of Health and Safety standards across all sites.
  • Keeping up to date and Horizon scanning for food safety and legality concerns.
  • Facilitate the day-to-day Technical Management of ingredient approval, food production and distribution.
  • Food Specific Legal compliance.
  • Compliance to customer requirements and standards.
  • Lead the Technical and Compliance Function to ensure they are engaged and high performing with a focus on problem solving and teamwork.
  • Manage and assist Lead and manage the Sustainability and H&S functions on site.
  • Manage the resolution and close out of issues / incidents which have been escalated.
  • Management of a large multidisciplinary team within the Technical and Compliance Department.
  • Identify and implement Best Practice within the Technical and Compliance function to help facilitate business improvements
  • Accountable for ensuring that new products and processes are introduced to site that are safe, legal and compliant with customer requirements and on time.
  • Develop and maintain a positive proactive relationship with key retail and export customers.
  • Work closely with other departments including Operations, NPD, Logistics, Procurement and Sales Orders to provide a holistic service to our internal and external customers.
  • Work to company KPIs

The ideal candidate will present with:

  • At least 5 years in a similar role to include Quality, Health & Safety and Sustainability
  • Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams in a food manufacturing environment
  • Experience in effective BRCGS and Retailer Audit management.
  • Effective and proven project management skills
  • Strong people and time management skills
  • Firm decision making
