Our client is seeking a Maintenance Technician for their food manufacturing site in the Midlands. This is an on-site support role requiring a high degree of flexibility, responsiveness, problem solving and the ability to self-manage and prioritise work in a busy and challenging work environment. Reporting to the operations manager you will be part of a small team responsible for the overall day to day maintenance operations at the company.
Role Definition:
Working within a factory environment, the maintenance technician will be required to provide engineering support to the production stream to maximise production line efficiencies. The maintenance technician will have a focus on electrical/electronic and mechanical preventative techniques, fault finding and trouble shooting.
Duties will involve:
- Day to day maintenance of all plant, machinery and equipment
- Preventative maintenance scheduling
- Trouble shooting and fault finding in a fast paced manufacturing environment
- Carrying out general mechanical and electrical maintenance repairs as they arise
- On-going preventative maintenance of all plant and machinery
- Participation in problem solving activities, electrical and mechanical process trouble shooting.
- Complete electro-mechanical repairs to high speed food processing, handling and packaging equipment.
- Supply technical support for the plant facilities & services including compressed air, steam, refrigeration and effluent plant.
- All repair requirements including buildings and grounds.
Essential Person Criteria:
- A relevant engineering qualification or a time served apprenticeship in a high volume, highly automated manufacturing environment – preferably food.
- Proven experience in a high volume, highly automated manufacturing environment
- Specialisation in either electrical/electronic, mechanical or automation & control.
- Strong familiarity with PLCs
- Food safety knowledge will be a big advantage
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools would be an advantage
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Flexible and Innovative problem solver
- Full clean driver‘s license
Experience:
* Mechanical/Electrical Engineering : 3 years (Required)
