Our client is seeking a Maintenance Technician for their food manufacturing site in the Midlands. This is an on-site support role requiring a high degree of flexibility, responsiveness, problem solving and the ability to self-manage and prioritise work in a busy and challenging work environment. Reporting to the operations manager you will be part of a small team responsible for the overall day to day maintenance operations at the company.

Role Definition:

Working within a factory environment, the maintenance technician will be required to provide engineering support to the production stream to maximise production line efficiencies. The maintenance technician will have a focus on electrical/electronic and mechanical preventative techniques, fault finding and trouble shooting.

Duties will involve:

  • Day to day maintenance of all plant, machinery and equipment
  • Preventative maintenance scheduling
  • Trouble shooting and fault finding in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Carrying out general mechanical and electrical maintenance repairs as they arise
  • On-going preventative maintenance of all plant and machinery
  • Participation in problem solving activities, electrical and mechanical process trouble shooting.
  • Complete electro-mechanical repairs to high speed food processing, handling and packaging equipment.
  • Supply technical support for the plant facilities & services including compressed air, steam, refrigeration and effluent plant.
  • All repair requirements including buildings and grounds.

Essential Person Criteria:

  • A relevant engineering qualification or a time served apprenticeship in a high volume, highly automated manufacturing environment preferably food.
  • Proven experience in a high volume, highly automated manufacturing environment
  • Specialisation in either electrical/electronic, mechanical or automation & control.
  • Strong familiarity with PLCs
  • Food safety knowledge will be a big advantage
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools would be an advantage
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexible and Innovative problem solver
  • Full clean drivers license

Experience:

* Mechanical/Electrical Engineering : 3 years (Required)
